Mike Worrall is a British surrealist artist born in 1942, in Matlock Derbyshire, now living in Australia since 1988. He has been painting since the early 1960’s and is almost entirely self taught. He is committed to exploring the subconscious and he likes the art of Paul Delvaux and Max Ernst amongst others.
Worrall was always intrigued by paintings involving an element of mystery, so he was drawn in this direction himself. He likes to get the viewer guessing and wondering what it’s about! He’s interested in dreams and subconscious thoughts and the weirdness of how one goes from one thought to another in an almost drifting process. Dreams are a great source of material for him. He has always had a fascination with beautiful subjects, especially women and he loves painting them.
