My sweet flower, so precious, so rare,
No fragrant lilac shall ever compare.
Your infinite beauty makes white roses blush,
While gazing upon you I feel such a rush.
You’re forever a flower dancing in the sun,
Opening your petals until each day is done.
Your fragrance lingers on into the night,
Pleasuring my senses with total delight.
Gentle flower of peace, my heart you doth stole,
You shall bloom eternally in my heart and my soul.
Once there was a child and he was free
Deep inside, he felt the laughter
The mirth and play of nature’s glee
He was not troubled by thoughts of hereafter
Beauty, love was all he’d see
He knew his power was the power of God
He was so sure, they considered him odd
This power of innocence, of compassion, of light
Threatened the priests and created a fright
In endless ways they sought to dismantle
This mysterious force which they could not handle
In endless ways they tried to destroy
His simple trust, his boundless joy
His invincible armor was a shield of bliss
Nothing could touch it, no venom, no hiss
The child remained in a state of grace
He wasn’t confined in time or place
In technicolor dreams, he frolicked and played
While acting his part, in Eternity he stayed
Soothsayers came and fortunes were told
Some were vehement, others were bold
In denouncing this child, this perplexing creature
With the rest of the world he shared no feature
Is he real? He is so strange
His unpredictable nature knows no range
He puzzles us so, is he straight?
What’s his destiny? What’s his fate?
And while they whispered and conspired
Through endless rumors to get him tired
To kill his wonder, trample him near
Burn his courage, fuel his fear
The child remained just simple, sincere
All he wanted was the mountain high
Color the clouds, paint the sky
Beyond these boundaries, he wanted to fly
In nature’s scheme, never to die
Don’t stop this child, he’s the father of man
Don’t cross his way, he’s part of the plan
I am that child, but so are you
You’ve just forgotten, just lost the clue
Inside your heart sits a Seer
Between his thoughts, he can hear
The melody simple but wondrously clear
The music of life, so precious, so dear
If you could for one moment know
This spark of creation, this exquisite glow
You would come and dance with me
Kindle this fire so we could see
All the children of the Earth
Weave their magic and give new birth
To a world of freedom with no pain
A world of joy, much more sane
Deep inside, you know it’s true
Just find that child, it’s hiding in you

WE HAD HIM
Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing, now
that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind.
Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace, sing our songs among the stars and walk our dances across the face of the moon.
In the instant that Michael is gone, we know nothing.
No clocks can tell time. No oceans can rush our tides with the abrupt absence of our treasure.
Though we are many, each of us is achingly alone, piercingly alone.
Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him.
He came to us from the creator, trailing creativity in abundance. Despite the anguish, his life was
sheathed in mother love, family love and survived and did more than that.
We had him, beautiful delighting our eyes.
His hat, aslant over his brow, and took a pose on his toes for all of us. And we laughed and stomped our feet for him.
We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing. He gave us all he had been given.
Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana’s Black Star Square. In Johannesburg and Pittsburgh,in Birmingham, Alabama, and Birmingham, England.
We are missing Michael.
But we do know we had him, and we are the world.
What one wishes is to be touched by truth and to be able to interpret that truth so that one may use what one is feeling and experiencing, be it despair or joy, in a way that will add meaning to one’s life and will hopefully touch others as well. (MJJ)
In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope.
In a world filled with anger, we
must still dare to comfort.
In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream.
And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe. (MJJ)
His smile could brighten the bleakest day
His magic could make the dewdrops glisten
His eyes could light up the midnight sky
His gentleness could calm the turbulent sea
His heart could melt the winter snow
His laugh could warm the coldest heart
His joy could bring the world to tears
His spirit could soar with doves and eagles
His charm could chase the clouds away
His kindness could tame the wild wind
His shyness could make a white rose blush
His words could make the waters ripple
His rhythm could cause the trees to sway
His whispers could halt the autumn breezes
His dance could make a baby smile
His voice could make the angels sing
His determination could stop the rain
His dedication could move a mountain
His passion could amaze the doubtful
His love could start to ”heal the world”
Magical star who was born into bliss
Incredible heart that was never amiss
Captivating charm that’s brought us delight
Happiness abounds upon his mere sight
Angel of innocence he will always remain
Exuberant and joyful and never complain
Love is the answer for us to sustain
You are the sunshine in my life
You are the joy without the strife
You are the wind beneath my wings
You are the reason my heart sings
You are the smile upon my face
You are the spirit that gives me grace
You are the light that makes me shine
You are the essence that’s divine
You are the gift that perpetually gives
You are the constant hope that lives
You are the strength that makes me whole
You are the eternal flame within my soul
You are the sparkle within my eyes
You are the scholar that makes me wise
You are the inspiration I can’t ignore
You are the epitome of all that I adore
You are the love that knows no bounds
You are the voice that forever resounds
You are the person I aspire to be
You are the one who taught me to be me
