Dublin – Sinéad O'Connor is dead. The Irish singer died at the age of 56. This is reported, among others, by the Irish Times and the BBC, citing a statement by the family on Wednesday evening (July 26). She gained worldwide fame in 1990 with her world hit "Nothing Compares 2 U". The Prince song also stormed the charts in Germany and was a number one hit.
