Amy and Gordon got married on October 3, 2016. It was a whirlwind romance from the start, an adventure filled with tenacious uncertainty and hope. The relationship was violent and beautiful like a boxing match, but Gordon was dragged into the ring not realizing he was walking into a storm. He thought he had found forever so, pathetically optimistic, he ran head-first into the tempest.
A nostalgic, hopeless romantic, Gordon chose to love Amy ignoring the pain she would cause along the way. What Gordon did not know then, and what would only become evident all too late, was that Amy and Lon Garner, a previous boyfriend, had never actually parted ways. Blind to the adulterous relationship, he struggled to understand why his marriage seemed so volatile.
Then one day, for reasons no one may ever know, Amy conspired to destroy her husbands life. Amy and Lon - a former paralegal and a once-key witness in a notorious domestic violence case - fabricated stories, manipulated relationships and capitalized on every opportunity to ensure Gordon was besieged by criminal allegations and buried under social persecution. Now, homeless, unemployed, and devoid of all dignity or hope, Gordon shares his story in this poignant documentary. It is a funny thing, love. You place your heart in someone else's hands hoping that person will protect it. And only after you find yourself beaten and bruised, laying on that proverbially boxing mat, do you even realize that you were in a fight. Accused of violent acts, in reality Gordon was too blind to defend himself, and now he does not seem to be getting up.
