PRETTY MAIDS is a band from Horsens (Denmark) in the heavy metal, hard rock, speed metal genres which was formed in 1981 by the 2 friends Ken Hammer and John Jacobsen. Ronnie Atkins joined the band in 1982, replacing John Jacobsen on vocals. These 2 musicians, who co-wrote the songs, were to be found in all the different PRETTY MAIDS formations. The group's roots lie in the formation of 'Pretty Pretty Panick', as a covers' band playing titles of Thin Lizzy, Rainbow & other cover versions in 1981. They gradually began to write their own material, eventually releasing a self-financed demo that landed them a contract with UK label Bullet Records. Amongst their Influences : Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kiss, Icon, Slade, and Queen.

In 1983, the band released their 1rst EP and embarked on a highly successful UK tour. In 1984 they signed to CBS Records Denmark, who reissued the EP. In 1984 too, they released their 1st studio album 'Red, Hot and Heavy' which was a success. The 2nd album followed in 1987, under the name 'Future World', and was recorded in New York with producer Eddie Kramer. The sound of this album became the band's signature : aggressive, melodic rock. The actual line up is composed with Ronnie Atkins - Lead vocals > 1981 ; Ken Hammer - Guitar > 1981 ; Rene Shades - Bass > 2011 and Allan Tschicaja - Drums > 2021.
Since their debut they have released 16 studio's albums, 4 EP's, 4 live albums, 4 compilations, 1 acoustic album and singles. The last live album was released on 22 May 2020 is titled 'Maid in Japan' and Future World Live 30 Anniversary.
